Ventnor

Ventnor is situated on the southeastern coast of the Isle of Wight. Known for its picturesque setting, with steep cliffs, beautiful coastal scenery, and a pleasant microclimate. As a result, the town is one of the UK’s most famous seaside resorts. Originally increasing in popularity during the Victorian era due to its unique microclimate. Ventnor is a modern yet quintessential seaside town.

The town also has a decidedly Mediterranean feel, with cafes and restaurants spilling out onto the pavements of the Esplanade. The town of Ventnor lies beneath the Island’s highest point on St Boniface Down. As a result of this, the town is mainly built onto the side of a steep hill that leads down to the beach.

In addition to the stunning scenery, Ventnor offers visitors various attractions, including beaches and coves. Ventnor Botanic Garden, various historical landmarks and the UK’s oldest theme park, Blackgang Chine, are just a 10/15 minute drive away.

The town has a very eclectic and artsy vibe with a whole host of cool, quirky shops as well as mini-supermarkets so you can shop your essentials. While the esplanade feels like you’ve stepped into Sorento, with beach side cafes spilling onto the street. For that Mediterranean vibe head to The Met for fine wines, tasty tapas and a cocktail or two. If you are after a proper pub meal out with exceptional views then make your way to the end of the esplanade where you will find the iconic Spyglass Inn.

During August Ventnor Fringe takes to the streets, with stall vendors, street food and live entertainment. It’s well worth a visit.
